A pilgrimage is a journey with religious or spiritual significance.
There is a strong tradition of Christian pilgrimage, originally to sites important in the life of Jesus Christ and in the Gospel narratives, later including other sites associated with events, saints or miracles.
In the 21st century, people continue to be engaged by the search for meaning and faith which finds its expression in pilgrimage.
Experiencing at first hand the spiritual dimension of a shrine can make faith come alive in a way that could not be achieved at home or in a classroom. A journey to the Holy Land or in the steps of St. Paul can bring the Bible to life in new and fascinating ways. The challenge of a walking pilgrimage can give a different perspective or a new way of viewing life.
Pilgrimages are extraordinary journeys.
We make grants to people or groups from the UK who wish to make pilgrimages to recognised Christian shrines in the UK or overseas.
We've been helping pilgrims travel for over 40 years.
